Gregorius Gastorio notario. Experientiae tuas in praesenti nos recolis præcepisse ut de possessione quae monasterio sanctorum Marci, Marcellini et Feliculse, quod Ravennæ situm cst, largitatis titulo dicitur esse concessa, quia causam bene nosti, debuisses quod justum est facere. Pro qua re hac te iterum nostra praeceptione duximus commonendum, ut in re ipsa vigilans debeas esse atque sollicitus. Eto si manifeste donatam esse cognoveris, et nihil est quod a partibus nostræ objici possit Ecclesiae, impedimentum aliquod monasterio ad tenendum ipsim possessionem non faciis.
Gregory to Gastorius the notary. You recall that we recently charged your experience that, concerning the possession which is said to have been granted by title of largess to the monastery of Saints Mark, Marcellinus and Felicula, which is situated at Ravenna—since you know the case well—you ought to do what is just. Concerning this matter we have thought fit again by this our precept to admonish you, that you should be watchful and solicitous in the matter itself. And if you shall have ascertained that it was manifestly given, and there is nothing that can be objected on the part of our Church, place no impediment upon the monastery for holding that same possession.

Si vero quia, prout diximus, causa hcne libi est cognita, habes quod juste possit pro Ecclesiae partibus allegari, electorum te cum parte altera necesse cst subire judicium, ut et veritas cognosci, et quod æquitalis ordo suaserit, valeat definiri.
But if, as we have said, the case is well known to you, and you have something that can justly be alleged on behalf of the Church's interests, it is necessary that you undergo the judgment of chosen arbiters together with the other party, so that both the truth may be known, and what the order of equity shall counsel may be duly defined.
但若如我們所言，此案你已熟知，而你握有可為教會利益正當提出的理由，你便必須與對方一同接受選定仲裁人的裁判，使真相得以查明，公平的次序所勸導的一切亦得以妥善裁定。
