Theodosius, abbas monasterii sancti Martini, pethorN nobis insinuatione suggessit, quæ habetur in subditis, in domo quondam a Martini, b ex ejus voluntatc. decessoreln suum Andream abbatem monasterium in quo monachi habitare debeant construxisse. Et quia id in honorem beati Petri apostolorum principis, et sancti archangeli Michaelis postulat dedicari, dilectionem tuam præsentibus apicibus duxintus adhortandam, quatenns ad prædictum locum, cum postulaverit, ingravanter accedas, venerandæ solemnia dedicati nis impendens.
Gregory to Fortunatus, bishop of Naples. Theodosius, abbot of the monastery of Saint Martin, has suggested to us by his petition, as is contained in what follows, that in a house formerly belonging to a certain Martin, by his will, his predecessor abbot Andrew built a monastery in which monks should dwell. And since he asks that it be dedicated in honour of blessed Peter, prince of the apostles, and of the holy archangel Michael, we have thought fit to exhort your Love by these present letters, that you go without reluctance to the aforesaid place when he shall have requested it, bestowing the solemn rites of dedication.

Et quoties necesse fuerit, a presbyteris Ecclesiæ tuæ in loco sancto deservientibus, celebrentur sacrificia veneranda 763 missarum, ita ut in eodem monasterio nec fraternitas tua, nec presbyteri, c præter diligentiam disciplinæ aliquid molestiarum inferant; aut si quid illic pro diversorum devotione commoditatis accesserit, sivi cxis; iment vindicari, cum monachis iIi eodem locu deservientibus debeat proficere quidquid a fidelibus offeri contigerit d.
And as often as it shall be necessary, let the venerable sacrifices of the Masses be celebrated by the priests of your Church who minister in that holy place, in such wise that in that same monastery neither your Fraternity nor the priests may, beyond the care of discipline, inflict any troubles; or if any advantage should there accrue through the devotion of divers persons, let them not seek to claim it for themselves, since whatever it may happen to be offered by the faithful ought to profit the monks ministering in that same place.
每逢有需要之時，願彌撒中可敬的祭獻由你教會中在那聖地供職的司祭們舉行，惟願在該隱修院中，無論是你的弟兄之情或是眾司祭，除紀律上的照管外，不得施加任何煩擾；倘若因著眾人的虔敬在那裡有何利益增添，他們也不可求歸於己，因為凡信徒所奉獻的一切，都當歸於在該地供職的修士們得益。
