697:1
Gregorius Anthemio subdiacono. Gloriosa filia Helena per suos nobis homines indicavit quosdam de suis ab Ecclesiae nostrae actoribus irrationabiliter detineri. Et quia eos petit sibi restitui, idcirco hac tibi auctoritate praecipimus ut cum omui diligentia veritatem studeas perscrutari. Et si ita est, nec est quod in eis ad nostrae nomen Ecclesiae possit vindicari, omni mora postposita, aut ipsos restitue, aut si forte mancipiis Ecclesiae nostrae conjuncti sunt, a dando pro eis vicarios recompensa. Si vero aliquid nostrae dicuntur Ecclesiae competere, sil sine aliqua dilatione compendium;
Gregory to Anthemius the subdeacon. Our glorious daughter Helena has, through her men, indicated to us that certain of her people are being unreasonably detained by the agents of our Church. And because she asks that they be restored to her, we therefore command you by this authority that with all diligence you strive to investigate the truth. And if it is so, and there is nothing whereby they can be claimed in the name of our Church, then, all delay set aside, either restore them, or, if perchance they are joined to the bondservants of our Church, recompense by giving substitutes in their place. But if anything is said to pertain to our Church, let the settlement be made without any delay;
額我略致副執事安特米烏斯。我們榮耀的女兒海倫娜藉她的僕人向我們表明:她名下有些人正被我們教會的管事無理扣留。她既求把這些人歸還給她,我們就憑這道權柄囑咐你,要盡一切殷勤查明真相。若果真如此,並無任何可憑以我們教會之名主張這些人的理由,就當撇下一切遲延,或將他們歸還,或倘若他們與我們教會的奴僕有所牽連,就以另派替代之人作為補償。但若有任何權益被指為屬於我們教會,就當毫不遲延地作出了結;

et quae judicata fuerint, ita experientia tua ad effectum sine aliqua difficultate perducat, ut praedictae filiæ nostrae denuo non sit huc necessitas transmittendi.
and let your experience bring to effect without any difficulty those things which shall have been adjudged, so that there may be no need again to send our aforesaid daughter hither.
並且要使你的辦事之能將那些經裁定的事毫無困難地付諸實行,好使我們上述的女兒不至再需被打發到這裡來。
