Gregorius BonIfacio episcopo Regitano. Sicu' Ecclesia (Grat. 12, q. 2, ė. 49) proprias res amittere non debet, ita eam rapacitatis ardore inva. dere alienas Hon oportet. Stephania siquidem latrix praesentium, quasdam res suas temporibus decessoris tui 656 Lucii quondam episcopi ab actoribus ejus vi queritur occupatas. Et quia sibi eas petiit, justitia favente, debere resti ui, propterea fraternilas tua cum Dei timore hæc quæ asserit sobtiliter curet addiscere. Et si ita, quemadmodum suprascripta femina ait, esse repererit, quæcunque maleablata sunt, faciat sine aliquo damno vel dilatione restitui. Num valde durum est res alienas contra rationem Ecclesiam detinere.
Gregory to Boniface, bishop of Reggio. Just as the Church ought not to lose her own possessions, so neither is it fitting that she should, in the heat of rapacity, invade those of others. Now Stephania, the bearer of these presents, complains that certain properties of hers were, in the times of your predecessor Lucius, the late bishop, forcibly seized by his agents. And since she has petitioned that they ought, with justice favoring her, to be restored to her, therefore let Your Fraternity, in the fear of God, take care to learn carefully the things she asserts. And if you find them to be as the aforesaid woman states, cause whatever has been wrongfully taken away to be restored without any loss or delay. For it is exceedingly hard for the Church to retain the property of others contrary to reason.

Ita ergo querimoniam præfatæ mulieris salubriter linire festina, ut nec nos exinde denuo molestiam patiamur, nee te avarum vel des!diosum haec causa demonstret.
Hasten therefore to soothe the complaint of the aforesaid woman in a wholesome manner, so that neither may we thereafter suffer annoyance anew, nor may this matter show you to be either greedy or slothful.
因此當趕緊以有益的方式平息上述婦人的申訴，好使我們日後不再因此受到困擾，也使這件事不致顯出你是貪婪或怠惰之人。
