Quidam religiosus atque fidelissimus vir adhuc mihi in monaster o posito narravit quod ali jui de Siciliæ partibus navigio Roman petentes,in mari medio positi, cujusdam servi Dei qui in Samnio fuerat inclusus, ad collum ferri animam viderunt. Qui descendentes ad terram, causamque an ita esset acta perscrutantes, illo die invenerunt obiisse Dei famulum, quo eum ad coelestia regna ascendisse cognoverunt.
當我還住在修道院裡時，有一位敬虔且極其忠信的人告訴我：有幾個從西西里地區、乘船前往羅馬的人，正身處海中，看見某位神的僕人——他曾在薩姆尼烏姆作隱修士被幽閉——的靈魂被帶上去，頸上帶著鐵枷。他們下船登陸後，查究此事是否果真如此，就發現那神的僕人正是在他們得知他升入天國的那一天離世。
A certain religious and most faithful man related to me, while I was still living in the monastery, that some men from the parts of Sicily, journeying by ship toward Rome, being in the midst of the sea, saw the soul of a certain servant of God—who had been enclosed as a recluse in Samnium—carried up with an iron collar about his neck. When they had descended to land, and searched out whether it had so come to pass, they found that the servant of God had died on that same day on which they had known him to ascend to the heavenly kingdom.
