Gregorius Anatolio diacono Constantinopolitano. Latores praesentium, qui R de Istricorum schiimate ad unitatem Ecclesiae Deo miserante reversi sunt, multa de pravitate episcoporum 983 qui in illis partibus sunt conqueruntur. Et quia ea pro re Constantinopolim festinantes tua sibi pelunt adesse debere solatia, dilectionem tuam his hortamur affatibus, ut eis salva ratione solatiari debeat atque concurrere; quatenus te opitulante et minus illic faligari, et quod justum est facilius valeant adipisci.

Gregory to Anatolius, deacon of Constantinople. The bearers of the present letter, who from the schism of the Istrians have, by God's mercy, returned to the unity of the Church, complain much of the depravity of the bishops who are in those parts. And because, hastening for that reason to Constantinople, they ask that your aid ought to be present to them, we exhort your Charity by these addresses, that you ought to give them solace and to concur with them, with reason preserved; so that, by your help, they may both be less wearied there and more easily be able to obtain what is just.
