Let your Experience, therefore, before that same man can reach the city of Hydruntum, with what speed you are able, direct letters either to the bishop of the city of Hydruntum, or to the aforesaid tribune, or to another whom you know you have in your place, that they should hold the wife and children of the aforesaid slave under all caution, and take solicitude concerning him, so that on his arrival he may be able to be detained, and soon, together with all his goods, whatever pertain to him, placed on a ship, be sent hither by all means through a trustworthy person. Let your Experience therefore take pains to accomplish all this with all efficacy and skill, lest by negligence or delay you offend our minds—which we do not wish.
