Gregory to Anthemius, subdeacon. Because I hear that your Glory is very firmly and stably settled in his own good character, I rejoice greatly, and so I speak to you the things which displease me confidently, as to a special son. For the most excellent exarch says certain things which are able to provoke all who love him to enmity against him. Concerning which matter I have dictated in a separate memorandum the things that seemed proper to me to be disclosed to him through the bearer of the present letter; which, if it please you, let them be read over by you also, so that you may know what you ought to write to him about that same matter. But how great is the necessity here, and what evils constrain us, you can learn both from the report of our present legate and from the letters of my brother and fellow-bishop Marinianus.

Unde gloriam vestram decet studiose cogitare, quia nos de sapienLia ve-tra magnam in omnipotente Domino fidacim habemus. et ubi vos esti, illic causam negligi nullo modo credimus. ita ergo facite, ut confidentia nostra a sua certitudine non inveniatur aliena. Gratia vos superna custodiat, et prospere agere omnia concedat.
因此，你的尊榮理當殷勤思量：我們在全能的主內對你的智慧懷有極大的信心；凡有你在的地方，我們決不相信事情會被疏忽。故此，願你如此行事，使我們的信心不致與其應有的把握相違。願上天的恩典護佑你，並賜你凡事順遂。
Wherefore it befits your Glory to consider diligently that we have great confidence in your wisdom in the almighty Lord; and where you are, we in no way believe that the cause is neglected. So then act, that our confidence may not be found alien from its own certainty. May the grace from on high keep you, and grant you to do all things prosperously.
