Gregorius Joanni tribuno Sipontino. Lator praesentium de status sui conditione nobis saepius conquestus est a Bonifacio nostro notario 1107 sibi violentiam irrogari. Cujus rei cognitionem in fratris et coepiscopi nostri Vitaliani notitiam praevidimus a. perferendam. Cujus causas mentum se i examinasse professus eat. Sed quia ad proferendum judicium se assurgere nullatenus dicit, hortamur magnitudinem,vestram ut pro causa mercedis aeternae cum praedicto resideatis episcopo, et, rei meritum evidentius perscrutantes, quidquid vobis suadente justitia visum fuerit, scripto decernite;

Gregory to John, tribune of Siponto. The bearer of these presents has often complained to us concerning the condition of his status, that violence is being done to him by Bonifacius our notary. The cognizance of which matter we foresaw ought to be brought to the notice of our brother and fellow-bishop Vitalianus. He professed that he had examined the causes of the case. But because he says that he can in no way rise to pronounce judgment, we exhort your greatness that, for the cause of eternal reward, you sit together with the aforesaid bishop, and, searching out the merit of the matter more evidently, whatever shall seem to you, justice persuading, decree it in writing;

et si de ejus vobis certius libertate constiterit, nullis deinceps quorumlibet inquietudinibus ad rei decisae meritum provocetur, sed in ea qua vobis visum fuerit libertate declaratus secure permaneat.
若你更確切地查明他確享自由的身分，就當使他從此不再被任何人的任何攪擾挑動去重翻這已裁決之案，而是照你所認為合宜宣告的那種自由，得以安然無恙地存留。
and if it shall be established to you more certainly concerning his freedom, let him thenceforth be provoked by no disturbances of any persons whatsoever to a reopening of the matter already decided, but, declared in that freedom which shall have seemed right to you, let him remain secure.
