Gregorius Maximiano episcopo Syracusano. Locis a munitis Ecclesia constituta pastoris vacare non debet officio. Quia igitur Ecclesia 580 LipariLana sacerdote privata dignoscitur, ideo Paulimnn Taurianensis Ecclesi e episcopum in prædicta Ecclesia Liparitana fraternitas tua sine mora praeese constituat, ut officii sui administrationem in eadem Ecclesia vigilanter exhibeat, et quæque ejus utilitatibus convenire didicerit, ordinare non desiuat. Cunctumque clerum ut in omnibus canonice ei obedire debeat admoneas, quatenus præfatæ Ecclesiæ in cunctis utilitas, prædicto fratre ei coepiscopo nostro disponente, Christo adjuvante procurari valeatb.
額我略致敘拉古主教瑪西彌盎。設立於堅固之處的教會，不當缺少牧者的職務。既然利帕里教會已被辨明缺少一位司祭，那麼願你弟兄毫不遲延地委派陶里亞納教會的主教保理諾，前去主理上述利帕里教會，好使他在同一教會中警醒地履行其職務的管理，並且凡他所學得適合其利益之事，都不停止地予以整頓。你也當勸諭全體聖職人員，他們當在凡事上按教規服從他，好使上述教會的利益得以在凡事上——由上述弟兄、我們同為主教者所安排——藉著基督的幫助而得著照管。
Gregory to Maximianus, bishop of Syracuse. A Church situated in fortified places ought not to be without the office of a pastor. Since therefore the Church of Lipari is known to be deprived of a priest, let your fraternity without delay appoint Paulinus, bishop of the Church of Tauriana, to preside over the aforesaid Church of Lipari, that he may vigilantly exhibit the administration of his office in that same Church, and may not cease to set in order whatever he shall have learned to be suitable for its interests. And admonish all the clergy that they ought in all things canonically to obey him, so that the advantage of the aforesaid Church may in all things be able to be provided for — the said brother and our fellow-bishop directing it — with Christ's help.
