Gregorius Anthemio subdiacono. lud cavit nobis Adeodatus, præsentium lator, ante mulios annos in solo se juris Ecclesiæ nostræ hac conditione adficium posuisse, ut duos solidos annis singulis ecclesiastic e rationi persolveret; et post ejus obitum solum ipsum cum imposito ædificio ad jus Ecclesiæ sine dubitatione aliqua remaneret. Sed qnia asserit e in tantam pauperiem pervenisse, uteosdem duos solidos, sicut promiserat, singulis non possit annis impendere, ei ob hoc unum sbi petiit rclaxari, experientia tua curet addiscere.
額我略致副祭安特米。持此函者阿德奧達已向我們表明：多年前他在單屬我們教會權利的地上蓋了一座建築，其條件是他每年向教會帳目繳納兩枚金幣；並且在他去世後，那地連同其上所蓋的建築，當毫無疑問地歸屬教會的權利。但既然他聲稱已陷入如此貧窮，以致不能如所應許每年繳那兩枚金幣，故此懇求豁免他一枚，願你的閱歷留意查明。
Gregory to Anthemius, subdeacon. Adeodatus, bearer of these presents, has indicated to us that many years ago he placed a building upon ground belonging solely to the right of our Church, on this condition, that he should pay two solidi each year to the ecclesiastical account; and that after his death the ground itself, with the building placed upon it, should remain to the right of the Church without any doubt. But since he asserts that he has come into such poverty that he cannot pay those same two solidi, as he had promised, each year, and on this account has begged that one be remitted to him, let your Experience take care to learn.

Et si pauper ita ut asserit nlanife te est, a nostra præstatione partem mediam relaxatam volumus, ut annis singulis non amplius quam unum solidum exsolvat, quia et æta i: senium et pauperies ejus i dicat ut onus quod petit ei debeat relaxari. Ita ergo hoc servari 1187 studii tui sit, ut tamen proprietatem soli atque impositi ædificii post obitum ipsius h Ecclesiæ sollicitudine et vigilanti cura conserves.
若他真如所稱明顯是貧窮的，我們就願從我們的徵收中豁免那一半，使他每年繳納不超過一枚金幣，因為他年紀的老邁與他的貧窮都要求：他所懇求的重擔理當豁免於他。故此，願你盡心使此得以遵行，然而要如此行，好使你以殷勤而警醒的照料，在他去世後為教會保全那地與其上所蓋建築的產權。
And if he is poor, as he asserts it is manifest, we wish half the part to be remitted from our exaction, so that each year he shall pay no more than one solidus, since both the old age of his years and his poverty demand that the burden which he begs ought to be remitted to him. So then let it be your study that this be observed, yet in such wise that you preserve the ownership of the ground and of the building placed thereon after his death for the Church, with solicitude and vigilant care.
