Quia Tecla, abbatissa monasterii sancta; Mariae, quod Neapoli in domo quondam Felicis scholastici constitutum est, contra * Alexandrum virum magnificum generum ipsius de quibusdam rebus causam habere dignoscitur, et ad hoc praesentium poriitorern transmisit, ut causa ipsa illic cum eo, si potest fieri, pacifice decidatur, hac experientiae tuae auctorirato praecipimus ut ei, quocunque usus exegerit, salva ratione svlatiari ac concurrere non omittat.

Since Thecla, abbess of the monastery of Saint Mary, which is situated at Naples in the house of the late Felix the scholastic, is known to have a case concerning certain matters against Alexander, a magnificent man, her own son-in-law, and has for this purpose sent the bearer of the present letter, that the case itself may there be settled peacefully with him, if it can be done—by this authority we command your Experience not to omit to comfort and to run to her aid, with reason preserved, in whatever the need may require.

Sed et praedictum virum magnificum hortari studeat, ut omni contentione cessante, ad decisionem causce ipsius, paris et ipse intentione, perveniat, ne si negligendum putaverit, cum strepitu postea et dispendio cogatur efficere quod bona voluntate implere postponit; quia, sicut edocti sumus, frequenter jam praedictae abbatissae per cpistolas suas promisit ipsam decidere, et facere hoc hactenus supersedit. Tua ergo experientia ita agat, ut aut ipsa causa, sicut diximus, decidatur; aut si certe differre voluerit, et videris quia facere quae pacis sunt non volet, subtiliter nobis ea ipse renuntia, ut quid pro utilitate monasterii memorati agi debeat sciamus.
但他也當竭力勸勉上述那位卓越之人：一切爭執停息，他也當以同等的心意，來到此案的了結；免得他若認為可以拖延，日後被迫在喧嚷與損耗中去成就那他如今甘願卻遲遲不肯履行之事；因為據我們所知，他已屢次藉書信向上述院長允諾要了結此案，卻至今推延未行。所以，願你的幹練如此行事：使該案如我們所言得以了結；或者，倘若他當真願意拖延，而你看出他不肯行那有關和平之事，你便當細密地向我們稟報這些情形，好使我們知道為上述隱修院的利益當作何處置。
But let him also strive to exhort the aforesaid magnificent man that, all contention ceasing, he too, with equal intent, may come to the settlement of the case itself; lest, if he should think fit to neglect it, he be later compelled with uproar and loss to accomplish what he now defers to fulfil with good will; because, as we have been informed, he has already frequently promised the aforesaid abbess by his letters to settle it, and has hitherto refrained from doing so. Let your Experience, therefore, so act, that either the case may be settled, as we have said; or, if he should indeed wish to defer it, and you should see that he will not do the things that make for peace, do you subtly report these things to us, that we may know what ought to be done for the advantage of the aforesaid monastery.
