Gregorius Romano defensori, An hemio subdiacono, * et Savino subdiacono. Ea quae sponte præbere nos convenit petiti ne gue non possumus. Et ideo quia gloriosus lilius noster Homanus exprætore possessIones suas et homines qui in illis sunt partibus vestrae voluit expericntiæ commendari, hac vobis praeceptione mandamus ut possessiones hominesque ipsius servata aequitate tueri non desinatis, atque ita in omnibus causis utilitatibusque ipsius concurrere ac solatiari studeatis, quatenus et ille se hac adjutum commendatione cognoscat, et vos salubritcr b injuncta exhibuisse comprobemini.

Gregory to Romanus the defender, Anthemius the subdeacon, and Savinus the subdeacon. The things which it behoves us to grant of our own accord, we cannot deny when requested. And therefore, because our glorious son Romanus, formerly praetor, has wished his possessions and the men who are in those parts to be commended to your Experience, we command you by this precept that you cease not, equity being preserved, to protect his possessions and men, and that you so strive in all his causes and interests to concur and to aid, that both he may recognize himself helped by this commendation, and you may be proved to have healthfully discharged the things enjoined.
