Gregorius Victori episcopo Panormitano. Ut vicus abhas monasterii sancti Hermæ, quod P3normi situm est, a nobis cum congregatione sua magnopere postulavit in eodem monasterio presbyterum, qui sacra missarum solemnia celebrare debeat, ordinari; et quia hujusmodi non est differenda petitio, fraternitatem vestram scriptis praesentibus necessario duximus adhortandam, ut eum qui ad hoc n:i. nisterium de eadem congregatione electus fuerit, cujus vita, mores, et actio tanto possit ministerio convenire, sinc mara, auxiliante DOlniuo, debeat consecrari, quatenus nec ille de monasterio suo hac pro causa egredi, nec extraneum sibi ad peragendum sacrum opus cogatur adducere.

Gregory to Victor, bishop of Palermo. Since the abbot of the monastery of Saint Hermes, which is situated at Palermo, has greatly petitioned us, together with his congregation, that a presbyter be ordained in the same monastery who ought to celebrate the sacred solemnities of the masses; and since a petition of this kind ought not to be deferred, we have of necessity judged that your Fraternity should be exhorted by the present writings, that him who shall have been chosen for this ministry from the same congregation—whose life, morals, and conduct can suit so great a ministry—you ought, without delay, the Lord aiding, to consecrate; so that neither may he be compelled to go out of his monastery for this cause, nor to bring in a stranger to perform the sacred work.
