Joannes quoque viir maginficus, in hac urbe alocun præfectorum servans, cnjus gravitatis atque veritatis sit novimus: qui mihi testatus est Valeria- nihn patricim in civitate quæ b rixa dicitur fuisse defunctum. Cui ejusdem civitatis episcopus, accepto pretio, forum in ecclesia præbuit, in quo sepeliri debuisset. Qui videlicet Valerianus usque ad aetatem decrepitam levis ac lubricus exstitit, modumque suis pravitatibus ponere contempsit. Eadem vero nocte, qua sepu!tns est, beatus Faustinus martyr, in cujus Ecclesia corpus illius fnerat humatum, custodi suo apparuit, dicens. Vade, et dic episcopo ut projiciat hinc has fetentes carnes quas hic posuit;

John also, a magnificent man, keeping in this city one of the offices of the prefects, of whose gravity and truthfulness we are aware, testified to me that a patrician named Valerian had died in the city called Brixia. To him the bishop of that same city, having received a price, granted a place in the church in which he should be buried. This Valerian, indeed, up to a decrepit age had been frivolous and slippery, and scorned to set any measure to his depravities. But that same night on which he was buried, the blessed martyr Faustinus, in whose church his body had been interred, appeared to his guardian, saying: 'Go, and tell the bishop to cast out hence these stinking carcasses which he has placed here;

quod si pon fecerit, die trigesimo ipse morietur. Quam visionem.custos episcopo timuit confiteri, et rursus admonitus declinavit. Die autem trigesimo ejusdem civitatis episcopus, 461 cum vespertina hora sanus atque incolumis ad lectum redisset, subita et inopipata morte defunctus est.
他若不照辦，第三十日他自己就要死。」那守護者不敢把這異象向主教承認，再次受到警告時仍畏縮不言。可是到了第三十日，那城的主教在傍晚時分健康無恙地回到床上，卻突然出乎意料地死去了。
and if he does not do so, on the thirtieth day he himself shall die.' The guardian feared to confess this vision to the bishop, and being admonished again, he shrank from it. But on the thirtieth day the bishop of that same city, when at the evening hour, sound and unharmed, he had returned to his bed, died by a sudden and unexpected death.
