Gregorius Mariniano episcopo Ravennæ. Gloriosissimus filius noster Joannes, præfectus urbis, ad hoc illuc lalorem præsentium 1046 Joannem virum a clarissimum destinavit, ut gloriosam conjugem ipsius Deo debeat protegente huc perduccre. Qnam et nos huc volumus per omnia advenire, ut prædictum gloriosi simum filium nostrum non divisum, sed totum habere possimus. Fraternitas ilaque vestra sollicitudinem gerat ne quod impedimentum ad veniendum sustineat, atque ut hic citius adesse valeat, studiose concurrat. Et ita se circa cain quocunque exegerit usus exhibeat, ut nec suam abesse conjugem sentiat, et nos in vobis modis omnib aspræsentes esse cognoscat.

Gregory to Marinianus, bishop of Ravenna. Our most glorious son John, prefect of the city, has for this purpose sent thither the bearer of these presents, John, a most illustrious man, that he might, with God protecting, bring hither his glorious wife. Her also we wish to come hither in all respects, so that we may be able to have our aforesaid most glorious son not divided, but whole. Therefore let your fraternity take care that she suffer no impediment to coming, and, that she may be able to be present here more quickly, let it zealously cooperate. And let it so show itself toward her in whatever occasion shall require, that she may neither feel her husband to be absent, and that he may know us in you to be present in all respects.
