Gregorius Mariniano abbati. Quia ecclesiam sancti Georgii positam in loco qui a Ad sedem dcitur minorem qnam oportet diligentiam habere cognovimus, ut le esse prospeximus, quoniam monasterium tuum eidem ecclesiae noscitur esse conjunctum, ejus tibi curam committere, hortantes ut et sollicitudinem illic congruam studeas adhibere. et psalmodiæ officium solemniter exhibere facias. Et quia ecclesiam ipsam.reparatione certum est indigere, volumus ut quidjuid illuc accedere potuerit, ipse accipere akjue in ejus reparalionem, ut praevideris, debeas erogare. Hanc. vero sollicitudinis curam, quam tibi hujus pagina praecepti mandavimus.

Gregory to Marinianus the abbot. Since we have learned that the church of Saint George, situated in the place which is called Ad Sedem, has less diligence than it ought—as we have perceived you to be, since your monastery is known to be joined to that same church—we commit its care to you, exhorting you both to strive to bestow fitting solicitude there, and to cause the office of psalmody to be solemnly performed. And since it is certain that the said church is in need of repair, we wish that whatever can accrue thither, you yourself receive it and, as you shall foresee, expend it upon its repair. But this care of solicitude, which we have enjoined upon you by the tenor of this precept,

tam te quam etiam successores tuos, qui monasterii regimen, Deo auctore, susceperint, exhibere, et qu£ constituimus per omnia volumus observare.

we wish that both you yourself and also your successors, who by God's authorship shall have undertaken the governance of the monastery, should discharge, and that the things we have established should in all respects be observed.
