Gregorius Secundino et Joanni episcopis Sicinæ. Bonorum nos hortatur dilectio filiorum utilitatibus eorum studiose concurrere, et eos in quantum ratio suppetit adjuvare. Et ideo quia 10&4 quantum se gloriosus filius noster Gregorius expræfecto henigne cunctis exhibuit, tanto omnium debet uti solatiis; fraternitatem vestram his hortamur affatibus, ut illic venienti tam apud Leontium gloriosum exconsulem in disponendis rationibus suis, quam apud alios, ubi causa poposcerit, opem ferre, et partes illius suMevare favente justitia festinetis, ut, vobis sacerdotaliter concurrentibus, nullam molestiam vel dispendium contra ordiuem possit æquitatis incurrere.

Gregory to Secundinus and John, bishops of Sicily. The love of good sons urges us to concur zealously with their advantages, and to help them insofar as reason allows. And therefore, because insofar as our glorious son Gregory, the ex-prefect, showed himself kind toward all, so much ought he to enjoy the comforts of all, we exhort your Fraternity by these words that, when he comes yonder, you may hasten—both with Leontius, the glorious ex-consul, in the arranging of his accounts, and with others wherever the cause may require—to bring aid and to relieve his interests, justice favouring it, so that, with you concurring in priestly fashion, he may be able to incur no annoyance or loss contrary to the order of equity.

Quem si, quod non credimus, gravari frustra in aliquo senseritis, apud praedictum gloriosum virum agere vos, episcopali modestia servata. necesse est, ut verbum quod ei per Azimarcbum virum magnificum scribonem præbuit, custodire debeat ac servare, atque illum irrationabiliter affigi vel sustinere dispendium minime patiatur. Ita ergo fraternitas vestra se erga eum sollicitam curet ostendere, et in ejus se causis secundum Deum studeat exhibere, ut et sacerdotale in vobis subsidium et paternam inveniat charitatem.
但若——這我們並不相信——你們發覺他在任何事上無故受累，你們就必須在保全主教應有的謙和之下，與前述榮耀的人交涉，使他當謹守並遵行他藉尊貴的書記官阿齊馬爾庫斯向他所許的話，斷不容他無理受擾或蒙受損失。因此，願你們弟兄留心對他顯出關切，並竭力在他的事務上按天主行事，好使他在你們身上既尋得司祭的扶助，又尋得父親的愛德。
But if—which we do not believe—you should perceive him to be burdened in any matter without cause, it is necessary that you act with the aforesaid glorious man, episcopal modesty being preserved, so that he ought to keep and observe the word which he gave to him through Azimarchus, the magnificent scribo, and by no means suffer him to be unreasonably molested or to sustain loss. So therefore let your Fraternity take care to show itself solicitous toward him, and strive to conduct itself in his affairs according to God, so that he may find both priestly support in you and fatherly charity.
