609:1
Gregorius Desiderio Q episcopo Galliarum. Fraternitatis vestrae desiderium Joannis regiona. rii relatione cognovimus: quod quidem libenter parati sumus implere, si diligenter fuerimus de his quæ retulit informati. Inquit autem a vestra sibi relatum dilectione quod Ecclesiae vestræ quaedam olim privilegia ab aposlolica sede concessa sint, atque usum pallii ejus sacerdotes 1020 antiquitus habuisse. Quod quia vobis magnopere poscitis reformari, in Ecclesiae nostrae scrinio requiri fecimus, et inveniri nil potuit. Sed quoniam quanto studiosius ista cupitis adipisci, tanto vos arbitramur esse sollicitos, in requirendis chartis Ecclesiae vestrævigihntius curam impendite;
貴格利致高盧主教德西德里(Desiderius)。我們藉區務官約翰的稟報,得知你弟兄的心願;此願我們實在樂意成全,只要我們能就他所稟報之事得著詳確的說明。他說,你的愛心向他述說,你們的教會從前曾蒙使徒座賜予若干特權,並且其祭司自古有佩用披帶(pallium)之權。因你們極力請求此權得以重新賜還,我們遂命人在本教會的檔案庫中查考,卻甚麼也查不著。但既然我們認為,你們越是熱切地渴望取得這些,就越發顯出你們的殷勤,那麼請你們在查考你們教會的文書上,更加警醒地下工夫;
Gregory to Desiderius, bishop of Gaul. We have learned the desire of your fraternity through the report of John the district-officer; which indeed we are willingly prepared to fulfil, if we shall have been diligently informed concerning the things he has reported. For he says it was told him by your love that certain privileges were once granted to your Church by the apostolic see, and that its priests anciently had the use of the pallium. Since you greatly ask that this be renewed for you, we caused search to be made in the archive of our Church, and nothing could be found. But since we judge that the more earnestly you desire to obtain these things, the more solicitous you are, expend your care more vigilantly in searching the charters of your Church;

et si qua exinde scripta inveniri potuerint, quae nos valeant informare, huc curæ vestrae Mit transmittere. Nam qui nova concedimus, vetera libentissime reparamus.
倘若能從中查出任何足以使我們得著憑據的文書,就請留心送到此處來。因為我們既能賜下新的特權,也極其樂意恢復舊有的。
and if any writings can be found thence which are able to inform us, take care to send them here. For we who grant new privileges, most gladly restore old ones.
