額我略致奇里達努斯。你榮耀者的良善，藉真實的傳報遠播四方，使我們對你懷有如此大的確信，以致我們絕不當對你有絲毫的猜疑，反倒當如向本教會真正智慧的兒子一般，特別地把一件事託付於你。因此，我們在天主的護佑之下，差遣本函持有人、我們的護衛官羅馬努斯，前去治理本教會那位於加大納與敘拉古一帶的產業。
Gregory to Ciridanus. The goodness of Your Glory, spread abroad by truthful report, affords us such great certainty concerning you, that we should in no wise distrust you, but rather, as to a truly wise son of our Church, we ought especially to commend a cause. And therefore we have sent—God protecting—Romanus our defender, the bearer of these presents, to the governance of the patrimony of our Church situated in the districts of Catania and Syracuse.

Salutantes igitur paterna dilectione gloriam vestram, petimus ut in cunctis affectum vestræ charitatis inveniat, et favoris vesiri solatiis quocunque necesse fuerit potiatur, ut vobis praesentibus nos absentes esse non sentiat, quatcnus cum injuncta sibi salubriter vestra ope expleverit, et nos vobis gratiarum possimus existere debitores, et beatus Petrus apostolorum princeps, in cujus causis vos impenditis, hic vobis et in futuro compenset.
所以，我們以父輩之愛向你榮耀者致意，請你使他在一切事上都尋見你仁愛的情誼，並在凡有必要之處享有你眷顧的慰助，好使他因你的在場而不覺我們的不在；如此，當他藉你的援助有益地完成所託付於他之事時，我們既能成為欠你感謝之債的人，而使徒之首、真福伯多祿——你為其事務盡心竭力的那一位——也必在今生與來世補償你。
Greeting therefore Your Glory with fatherly love, we ask that in all things he may find the affection of your charity, and enjoy the solaces of your favour wherever it shall be necessary, so that with you present he may not feel us to be absent; so that when, with your help, he shall have wholesomely fulfilled the things enjoined on him, we too may be able to be your debtors of thanks, and blessed Peter, prince of the apostles, in whose causes you spend yourselves, may recompense you both here and in the future.
