193:1
Gregorius Petro subdiacono. Egentibus nostræ commendationis auxilio, oportet nos, in quantum ratio patitur, benigna mente præbere subsidium. Proinde experientiæ tuæ Cyriacum et Joannam conjugem ejus, præsentium portitores, nostra præceptione duximus, commendandos, quatenus a nullo eos contra justitiam opprimi vel gravari permittas. Sed ubi necesse fuerit, tuis, annuente justitia, solatiis perfruantur, ut, salva æquitate, nostram sibi in 557 omnibus commendationem te concurrente prodesse lætentur.
額我略致副執事伯多祿。對於那些需要我們舉薦之助的人，我們理當在情理所容許的範圍內，以仁慈之心予以扶助。故我們判定：本函持信人基里雅庫斯及其妻子若安娜，理當藉我們的訓令託付於閣下，好使你不容許任何人違背公義地欺壓或加重他們的負擔。但在必要之處，就讓他們在公義應允下享有你的協助，好使在公平得以保存的前提下，他們得以歡欣，因我們的舉薦藉你的相助在一切事上使他們得益。
Gregory to Peter, subdeacon. To those who need the help of our commendation, it befits us, as far as reason allows, to afford support with a kindly mind. Accordingly, we have judged that Cyriacus and Joanna his wife, bearers of these presents, ought by our precept to be commended to your Discretion, so that you permit them to be oppressed or burdened by no one contrary to justice. But where it shall be necessary, let them enjoy your assistance, justice consenting, so that, equity being preserved, they may rejoice that our commendation, with your concurrence, profits them in all things.

Quia vero præfata femina, pro eo quod post acceptas sponsalitias arrbas, ex Judæa ad Christianam religionem cOnversa est, dicitur sustinere molestiam, et eamdem causam jam dictam asseruit et finitam, experientia tua diligenter exquirat; et si causam judicata cognoverit, nullam exinde querelam adversus suprascriptam feminam ulterius quolibet modo reserpere permittat. Sed quæ judicata sunt, modis omnibus conserventur, ne ob id quod meliorem artem elegisse malorum hominum controversisiis, quatiatur.
但因上述那婦人——她在領受了訂婚的信物之後，由猶太教歸信了基督宗教——據說正忍受騷擾，並且她聲稱此案早已陳述並已了結，就讓閣下勤加查究；若查明此案已經裁定，就不容許此後以任何方式重啟針對上述婦人的任何控訴。反倒要竭盡一切方法保存那已裁定之事，免得她因揀選了更美好的道路，反被惡人的爭訟所動搖。
But because the aforesaid woman, for the reason that after receiving the betrothal pledges she was converted from Judaism to the Christian religion, is said to endure molestation, and she has asserted that this same cause has already been stated and concluded, let your Discretion diligently inquire; and if it recognizes the cause to have been adjudged, let it permit no complaint henceforth in any manner to be reopened against the above-written woman. But let the things that have been adjudged be preserved by every means, lest, for having chosen the better path, she be shaken by the controversies of evil men.
