27. Inopes hospitio recipiendi et ad mensam adhibendi. - Scilicet pietati se præjudicium facere aestimans, si solus comederet quod Dominus omnium communiter creasset. Quae profecto cummunio conversationis esse cum talibus intra domesticos parietes debet, ex quibus æternæ proficiant merita retributionis. Unde sanctus vir non quemlibet, sed ad manducandum socium pupillum se habuisse perhibet. dSed tanta hæc pietatis viscera utrum a semetipso babuerit, an conditoris sui gratia sit consecutus, innotescat. Sequitur:
27. 貧乏之人當以款待接納，並容其入席同食。——就是說，他認為自己若獨自享用那萬有之主所共同創造的，便是虧負了敬虔。這交往的相通，實在當在家中的牆內與這樣的人共有，好叫永恆賞賜之功可從他們而生。因此這位聖者宣稱，他所有作為同食伴侶的，並非隨便什麼人，乃是孤兒。但他這如此深厚的敬虔慈心，究竟是出於自己，抑或是藉他造物主的恩典所得，且讓它顯明出來。接著說：

The needy are to be received in hospitality and admitted to the table. — Namely, esteeming himself to do prejudice to piety, if he alone were to eat that which the Lord of all had created in common. Which fellowship of converse ought indeed to be with such persons within the domestic walls, from whom the merits of eternal recompense may profit. Whence the holy man declares that he had not just anyone, but the orphan as his companion for eating. But whether he had such great bowels of piety from himself, or attained them by the grace of his Creator, let it be made known. It follows:
