V ers. 7.— Nunquid Deus indiget vestro mendacio, ut pro illo loquamini dolos? 37. Veritas fulciri non quaerit auxilio falsitatis. — Deus mendacio non eget, quia veritas fulciri noti quaerit auxilio falsitatis. Haeretici autem, quia ea quae prave de Deo intelligunt ex veritate tueri non pos- sunt, quasi ad probandum radium luminis umbram falsitatis requirunt. Et pro eo 380 dolos loquuntur, dum infirmas mentes in intellectu illius stulta sedu- ctione decipiunt. Sequitur:
第七節：「難道神需要你們的謊言，要你們為祂說詭詐嗎？」三十七、真理不求以虛謊之助來扶持。——神並不需要謊言，因為真理不求以虛謊之助來扶持。但異端因不能從真理來維護他們對神所懷的邪僻見解，就彷彿為要證明光之光線，反去尋求虛謊之影。他們為祂說詭詐，是在他們以愚昧的引誘欺騙軟弱的心思、使其對祂產生錯誤認識的時候。接著說：
Verse 7: 'Does God need your lie, that you should speak deceits for Him?' 37. Truth does not seek to be propped up by the aid of falsehood. — God has no need of a lie, because truth does not seek to be propped up by the aid of falsehood. But heretics, because they cannot defend from the truth the things which they perversely understand concerning God, seek, as it were, the shadow of falsehood to prove the ray of light. And they speak deceits for Him, while they deceive weak minds in the understanding of Him by foolish seduction. There follows:
