Qui Deus membra corporea habere dicatur. — In Deo, qui corporis forma non circumscribitur, membra corporis, id est manus, oculus, uterus ita nominantur, ut ex membrorum vocabulis effectus ejus potentiae designentur. Oculos quippe habere di- citur, quia cuncta videt; manus habere describi- tur, quia cuncta operatur; in utero autem proles concipitur, quae in hac vita profertur. Quid ergo ute- rum Dei nisi ejus consilium debemus accipere, in quo ante saecula per praedestinationem concepti su- mus, ut creati per saecula producamur?
同上——「我懇求我腹中的兒女。」53. 神何以被說有身體的肢體。——在那不被身體形狀所限的神裡面,身體的肢體——就是手、眼、腹——之所以如此命名,是要藉這些肢體的名稱來指明祂能力的果效。因為祂被說有眼,因祂看見萬有;祂被描述有手,因祂運行萬有;而在腹中孕育後裔,此後裔要在今生被生出。那麼,神的腹除了指祂的旨意,我們還當領會為甚麼呢?在這旨意中,我們於萬世之先藉預定被孕育,好使我們受造於諸世代而被生出。
The same. — 'And I entreated the sons of my womb.' 53. How God may be said to have bodily members. — In God, who is not circumscribed by the form of a body, the members of the body — that is, hand, eye, womb — are so named that by the terms of the members the effects of His power are designated. For He is said to have eyes, because He sees all things; He is described as having hands, because He works all things; but in the womb offspring is conceived, which is brought forth in this life. What, then, ought we to understand by the womb of God but His counsel, in which before the ages we were conceived through predestination, that, created through the ages, we might be brought forth?
