V ers. 24. — Dabit pro terra silicem, et pro silice torrentes aureos. 22. Infirmi, sanante Deo, fortes evadunt, et aliis doctrina praelucent. — Quid per terram nisi infirmitas actionis, quid per duritiam silicis, nisi fortitudo si- gnatur? quid per torrentes aureos, nisi doctrinam in- timae claritatis accipimus? Omnipotens autem Deus ad se conversis pro terra dat silicem, quia pro infir- ma actione fortitudinem tribuit robusti operis.
第二十四節。——祂要以燧石代替泥土，以金色的急流代替燧石。軟弱之人，經神醫治，就變為剛強，並以教訓向他人發光。——「泥土」所表明的豈非行動的軟弱？「燧石」的堅硬所表明的豈非剛強？我們藉「金色的急流」所領會的豈非那最深處光輝的教訓？如今全能的神，向歸向祂的人，以燧石代替泥土，因為祂為軟弱的行動賜下剛健工作的力量。
Verse 24. — He shall give flint for earth, and golden torrents for flint. The weak, when God heals them, come forth strong, and shine forth to others with doctrine. — What is signified by 'earth' but the weakness of action; what by the hardness of 'flint' but strength? What do we understand by 'golden torrents' but the doctrine of inmost brightness? Now Almighty God, to those turned to him, gives flint for earth, because for weak action he bestows the strength of vigorous work.

Dat etiam pro silice torrentes aureos, quia pro robusto opere doctrinam multiplicat clarae praedicationis, ut peccator quisque conversus, et ex infirmo fortis exi- stere valeat, et in sua fortitudine a usque ad.profe- renda verba intimae claritatis exsurgat, quatenus in eo et infirmitas actionis, in qua velut terra solvitur, bene vivendi fortitudine solidetur; et rursus cum sensus ex vita trahitur, ex ipsa fortitudine torrentes aurei defluant, quia in ore bene viventium doctrinae claritas inundat. Sequitur:
祂也以金色的急流代替燧石，因為祂為剛健的工作增添明亮宣講的教訓，好叫任何罪人一旦悔改，就既能由軟弱變為剛強，又能在他的力量中甚至興起說出最深光輝的言語——為要在他裡面，那彷彿泥土般消融的行動之軟弱，藉著善行的力量得以堅固；並且反過來，當心思從善的生命被引出時，就有金色的急流從那力量本身流下，因為在善度生活之人的口中，教訓的光輝滿溢流出。接著說：
He also gives golden torrents for flint, because for vigorous work he multiplies the doctrine of bright preaching, so that any sinner, once converted, may be able both to come forth strong out of weak, and, in his strength, to rise up even to the utterance of words of inmost brightness — to the end that in him both the weakness of action, in which he is dissolved like earth, may be made solid by the strength of good living; and again, when the mind is drawn from a good life, golden torrents may flow down from that very strength, because in the mouth of those who live well the brightness of doctrine overflows. There follows:
