V ers. 34. — Auferat a me virgam suam, et pavor ejus non me terreat. 62. Mansuetudine potius quam terrore nos correxit. — Per legem quippe virgam Deus tenuerat, cum di- cebat: Si quis haec vel illa fecerit, morte moriatur. Sed incarnatus virgam abstulit, quia vias vitae per mansuetudinem ostendit. Unde ei per Psalmistam dicitur: Intende, prospere procede, et regna, propter veritatem et mansuetudinem et justitiam ( Psal. xliv, 5). [ Vet. XXXII.] Timeri quippe quasi Deus noluit, sed quasi paler ut amaretur inspiravit. Quod liquido Paulus dicit: Non enim accepistis spiritum servitutis iterum in timore, sed accepistis spiritum adoptionis filiorum, in quo clamamus, Abba pater ( Rom. viii, 15).
第三十四節——願祂把祂的杖離開我，不叫祂的驚嚇威嚇我。第六十二節：祂寧用溫柔而非恐嚇矯正了我們。——因為神藉律法握著杖，當祂說：凡行這事或那事的，必被治死。但祂道成肉身便挪去了杖，因祂藉溫柔指示了生命的道路。因此藉詩人對祂說：為真理、謙卑、公義，跨上駿馬，前去亨通、掌權（詩篇四十五4）。〔舊譯本第三十二〕因為祂不願如神般被人懼怕，乃吹入靈感，要如父親般被人愛慕。這事保羅明明地說：你們所受的不是奴僕的心，仍舊害怕；所受的乃是兒子名分的靈，因此我們呼叫：阿爸，父（羅馬書八15）。
Verse 34. — Let him take away his rod from me, and let not his dread terrify me. 62. He corrected us by gentleness rather than by terror. — For through the Law God had held the rod, when He said: If anyone shall do this or that, let him die the death. But being incarnate He took away the rod, since He showed the ways of life through gentleness. Whence it is said to Him through the Psalmist: Attend, go forward prosperously, and reign, because of truth and meekness and justice (Psal. xliv, 5). [Old Version XXXII.] For He willed not to be feared as God, but breathed inspiration that He should be loved as a father. Which Paul plainly says: For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again in fear, but ye have received the spirit of adoption of sons, wherein we cry, Abba, Father (Rom. viii, 15).
