2. Diaboli viribus Dei omnipotentia, machinationibus infinita Sapientia opponitur. — Contra immanes quippe vires ejus intulit: Seio quia omnia potes; contra cecultas vero machinationes illius subjunxit: Et nulla te latet cogitatio. Unde et mox Leviathan eidem exprobrat, dicens: Absque srientia enim Leviathan celat consilium; quia quamvis contra infirmitatem nostram multis fraudibus occultemur, protectoris tamen nostri sancta nobis inspiratione detegitur. b Absque scientia celat consilium, quia licet tentatos lateat, latere tamen protectorem non potest tentaturum.
二、以神的全能抵擋魔鬼的權勢，以祂無限的智慧抵擋牠的詭計。——他確實針對牠可怖的權勢宣告說：我知道你萬事都能做；卻針對牠隱藏的詭計補充說：你的意念絲毫不能隱藏。故此利維坦立即受祂責備，說：因為利維坦沒有知識地隱藏牠的計謀；因為，儘管針對我們的軟弱，牠可用許多詭詐向我們隱藏，然而藉我們保護者聖潔的默感，牠向我們被揭露出來。牠沒有知識地隱藏計謀，因為牠縱然向受試探者隱藏，卻不能向那將受試探者的保護者隱藏。
2. Against the powers of the devil is set the omnipotence of God, against his machinations, His infinite Wisdom. — Against his monstrous powers indeed he declared: I know that Thou canst do all things; but against his hidden machinations he added: And no thought is hidden from Thee. Whence also Leviathan is at once reproached by Him, saying: For Leviathan hides his counsel without knowledge; because, although against our infirmity we may be concealed by many frauds, yet he is uncovered to us by the holy inspiration of our Protector. Without knowledge he hides his counsel, because, although he may lie hidden from the tempted, yet he cannot lie hidden from the Protector of the one about to be tempted.

Igitur audita fortitudine et calliditate diaboli, audita etiam creatoris nostri potentia, quae et illum valenter reprimit, et nos misericorditer legit, quæsumus, beate Job, ut quæ de temetipso sentis nobis minime occultes. Sequitur:
