V ers. 17. — Audite sermonem meum, et aenigmata percipite auribus vestris. 50. Job figurata locutio. — Per hoc quod aenigmata nominat, figuratas se habere locutiones demonstrat. Unde apte quoque voce fidelis populi subditur:

Verse 17. — 'Hear my speech, and receive my dark sayings with your ears.' 50. Job's figurative manner of speaking. — By the fact that he names 'dark sayings' (aenigmata), he shows that he uses figurative expressions. Hence fittingly there is added also in the voice of the faithful people:
