V ers. 8. — Semen eorum permanet coram eis. 46. In augmentum magnae felicitatis, cum magno patrimonio dantur et haeredes; ac ne qua necessitas saltem temporalis ab oculis subtrahat eos in quibus animus exsultat, de hoc eorum semine dicitur: Per- manet coram eis. Quid autem si Ulil dati sunt, sed ipsi sterilitate feriuntur? Sic in eis genus exstin- guitur, sicut parentum sterilitate exstingui timebatur. Sequitur: I bid.— Propinquorum turba et nepotum in conspectu eorum. Ecce adest vita, adsunt honores et divitiae, adsunt filii, adsunt nepotes. Quid si qua mentem intestina cogitatio exurat, et securitatis gaudia b domestica rixa transverberet? Quae est mundi hujus felicitas, si laeta non est?
第八節。——「他們的後裔在他們面前堅立。」46. 為增添大福樂，承嗣者與豐厚的產業一同賜下；且免得任何屬世的變故，哪怕暫時的，將那使人心歡騰的後裔從他們眼前奪去，論到這後裔便說：「在他們面前堅立。」但若兒女雖賜下，他們自己卻遭不育之災，又當如何？如此，家系便在他們身上斷絕，正如先前所懼怕的因父母不育而斷絕一樣。接著說：「他們的親屬和子孫成群在他們眼前。」看哪，性命尚存，尊榮財富俱備，兒女俱備，子孫俱備。但若有某種內心的思慮焚燒心靈，家中的爭鬧刺透了安穩的歡樂，又當如何？倘若不歡愉，這世上的福樂又算甚麼呢？
Verse 8. — 'Their seed remains before them.' 46. To the increase of great happiness, heirs are given together with a great patrimony; and lest even some temporal necessity should withdraw from their eyes those in whom the mind exults, of this their seed it is said: 'It remains before them.' But what if children are given, yet they themselves are struck with barrenness? Thus in them the line is extinguished, just as it was feared to be extinguished by the barrenness of the parents. There follows: 'The crowd of their kinsmen and grandchildren in their sight.' Behold, life is present, honors and riches are present, children are present, grandchildren are present. But what if some inner thought should burn the mind, and a domestic quarrel should pierce through the joys of security? What is the happiness of this world, if it is not glad?
