V ers. 4. — Nunquid timens arguet te, et veniet te- cum ad judicium? 3. Otiose de Deo dicitur quod a nemine ignoratur. — Quis hoc vel desipiens sentiat, quod Dominus ex timore nos arguat, et ex metu judicium contra nos suum proponat? Sed qui verba sua metiri nesciunt, procul dubio ad otiosa dieta dilabuntur. In quibus si se minime reprehendunt, statim ad noxia et con- tumeliosa verba prosiliunt. Unde Eliphaz, qui otio- sa intulit, ad contumeliosa protinus verba prorupit, dicens:
(第四節)——祂豈因懼怕責備你,與你一同上到審判之地嗎?三、論到神說那無人不知的事,乃是徒然。——誰,即使是愚人,會這樣設想——說主是出於懼怕責備我們,出於畏懼向我們提出祂的審判?但那些不懂衡量自己言語的人,無疑會滑入空洞的話。在其中,他們若絲毫不自我省察,立刻就跳進有害且侮辱的話。因此以利法既發了空洞的言語,立刻爆發出侮辱的話,說:
(Verse 4) — Will He reprove you out of fear, and come with you into judgment? 3. It is idle to say of God what no one is ignorant of. — Who, even a fool, would suppose this — that the Lord reproves us out of fear, and out of dread sets His judgment against us? But those who know not how to weigh their words undoubtedly slip into idle sayings. And in these, if they do not correct themselves in the least, they immediately leap forth into harmful and insulting words. Whence Eliphaz, who uttered idle things, straightway burst forth into insulting words, saying:
