V ers. 7. — Caligavit a ad indignationem oculus meus, et membra mea quasi in nihilum redacta sunt. 41. Ad flagella sanctis obstupescentibus et caligan- tibus, infirmi aliquando corruunt. — Ad indignationem oculus caligat quando ipsi quoque qui in dominico corpore, id est in Ecclesia, lumen veritatis habent, dum se diutius a pravis despici ac dedignari conspi- ciunt, de occulti judicii admiratione turbantur, et se- cretum Dei penetrare nequeunt, cur praevalere per- versi contra bonorum innocentiam permittuntur.
第七節——「我的眼因憤懣而昏暗，我的肢體幾乎化為烏有。」41. 當聖徒對鞭打驚駭昏眩之時，軟弱的人有時竟至跌倒。——眼因憤懣而昏暗，是指那些在主的身體、即在教會中擁有真理之光的人，當他們見自己長久被惡人所輕蔑鄙視時，也因對那隱秘審判的驚異而心生煩擾，不能參透神的奧秘：為何容許乖僻之人得勝良善者的無辜。
Verse 7.—'My eye is dimmed by indignation, and my members are as it were brought to nothing.' 41. While the saints are astonished and dimmed at the scourges, the weak sometimes fall.—The eye grows dim through indignation when even those who possess the light of truth in the Lord's body, that is, in the Church, are troubled by wonder at the hidden judgment when they see themselves for a long while despised and disdained by the wicked, and cannot penetrate the secret of God: why the perverse are permitted to prevail against the innocence of the good.

Quis etenim non obstupescat cum Herodias apud temu- lentum regem saltatu filiae obtinet ut caput amici Sponsi, prophetae et plusquam prophetae, ante ora convivantium in disco deferatur ( Marc. vi, 27)? Sed cum b justi ad indignationem caligant, infirmi ple- rumque usque ad infidelitatem corruunt. Unde sub- ditur: Et membra mea quasi in nihilum sunt redacta. Membrorum quippe nomine teneritudo exprimitur infirmorum, qui dum perversos prospiciunt florere justosque cruciari, ad hoc nonnunquam perveniunt, ut se bona vel inchoasse poeniteant; atque ita ad agenda mala c citius recedunt, ac si eorum vitae no- cuerit bonum quod inchoaverunt. Hoc autem quod ait:
因為當希羅底在醉酒的王面前，藉女兒的跳舞求得將新郎之友——那先知、且是大過先知的人——的頭盛在盤子裡端到宴席眾人眼前（可六27），誰能不驚駭呢？然而當義人因憤懣而昏暗時，軟弱之人多半竟跌入不信。因此接著說：「我的肢體幾乎化為烏有。」因為「肢體」之名所表達的乃是軟弱者的柔弱；他們見乖僻之人興盛、義人受苦時，有時竟至於此地步，就是懊悔自己曾開始行善；於是他們更快退回去行惡，彷彿他們所開始的善害了自己的性命。而他所說：
For who would not be astonished when Herodias, before a drunken king, obtains through her daughter's dancing that the head of the Bridegroom's friend, a prophet and more than a prophet, should be carried in on a platter before the eyes of the banqueters (Mark vi. 27)? But when the just grow dim through indignation, the weak for the most part fall even into unbelief. Wherefore it is added: 'And my members are as it were brought to nothing.' For by the name of 'members' is expressed the tenderness of the weak, who, while they behold the perverse flourish and the just tormented, sometimes come to this: that they repent of even having begun what is good; and thus they fall back the more quickly to the doing of evil, as though the good they had begun had harmed their life.
