V ers. 17. — Memoria illius pereat de terra, et non celebretur nomen ejus in plateis. 25. Antichristi et iniquorum omnium quam brevis gloria.—Intuendum est nobis quia sic Baldad Suhites de unoquoque iniquo loquitur ut latenter ad caput omnium iniquorum ejus verba vertantur. Caput quip- pe iniquorum diabolus est. Ipse quippe, in ultimis temporibus, illud vas perditionis ingressus, e Anti- christus vocabitur, qui nomen suum longe lateque dif- fundere conabitur, quod nunc unusquisque imitatur cum de memoria terreni nominis gloriam laudis suae extendere nititur, atque opinione transitoria laetatur.
第十七節。——「願他的名號從地上消滅，願他的名不在街市上被傳揚。」25. 敵基督與一切惡人的榮耀何等短暫。——我們當留意，書亞人巴力達論每一個惡人的話語，其實暗中指向一切惡人的元首。惡人的元首就是魔鬼。他必在末時進入那滅亡之器，被稱為敵基督，要竭力將自己的名傳揚到遠近各處——如今每個人都在效法此舉，就是當人竭力要藉屬地名號的記念來擴張自己稱讚的榮耀，並以短暫的名聲為樂之時。
Verse 17. — 'Let his memory perish from the earth, and let not his name be renowned in the streets.' 25. How brief is the glory of Antichrist and of all the wicked. — We must observe that Baldad the Shuhite so speaks of every wicked man that his words are secretly turned toward the head of all the wicked. For the head of the wicked is the devil. He indeed, in the last times, entering that vessel of perdition, shall be called Antichrist, who will strive to spread his name far and wide — which now each one imitates when he strives to extend the glory of his own praise out of the memory of an earthly name, and rejoices in a fleeting reputation.

Sic ergo haec verba intelligantur de unoquoque ini- quo, ut referri f quoque debeant ad ipsum specialiter caput iniquorum. Dicat itaque: Memoria illius pereat de terra, et non celebretur nomen ejus in plateis. Pla- t ae quippe appellatione graeca a latitudine sunt vo- catae. Memoriam vero suam in terra statuere Anti, christus conatur, cum in terrena gloria appetit, si esset possibile, in (??)perpetuum permanere. Nomen suum in plateis celebrari gaudet, cum longe lateque operationem suae iniquitatis extendit. Sed quia din haec ejus iniquitas non sinitur extolli, dicatur: Memo- ria illius pereat de terra, et non celebretur nomen ejus in plateis;

So then let these words be understood of every wicked man, in such a way that they ought also to be referred especially to that very head of the wicked. Let him therefore say: 'Let his memory perish from the earth, and let not his name be renowned in the streets.' For streets (plateae) are so called by a Greek term from their breadth (latitudo). But Antichrist strives to establish his memory in the earth, when he desires, if it were possible, to remain forever in earthly glory. He rejoices to have his name renowned in the streets, when he extends the working of his iniquity far and wide. But because this his iniquity is not permitted long to be exalted, let it be said: 'Let his memory perish from the earth, and let not his name be renowned in the streets';

id est, et citius laudem terrenae potestatis amittat, et omne gaudium sui nominis perdat, quod longe lateque in brevi temporis prosperitate diffude- rat. Sequitur:
