V ers. 14. — Pavor tenuit me et tremor, et omnia ossa mea perterrita sunt. 47. Modo pavidos se simulant. — Quia enim de doctrinae suae altitudine miri videri appetunt, quasi pertimescunt quae fingunt; et cum minoris laboris sit audire quam dicere, ad ea proferenda audaces sunt, quae scilicet astruunt e quia ipsi vix audire po- tuerunt. Unde adhuc subditur:

Verse 14. — Fear seized upon me, and trembling, and all my bones were terrified. 47. They now feign themselves afraid. — For because they desire to seem wondrous through the loftiness of their doctrine, they as it were dread the things they feign; and since it is of less labor to hear than to speak, they are bold to bring forth those things which they assert, namely, that they themselves could scarcely hear.
