When heretics are compelled to be silent.—Yet sometimes, when they observe the hearts of the faithful sluggish through the torpor of inactivity, they do not cease to scatter the seeds of error by speaking. But when they see the minds of the good aspiring to lofty things, seeking a return to their homeland, sorrowing vigorously over the misery of this exile, then with anxious circumspection they bridle their tongue, because they see that speaking in vain against the hearts of the sorrowing they are sooner struck dumb.
