V ers. 6. — Recede paululum ab eo, ut quiescat, donec optata veniat, sicut mercenarii dies ejus. 4. Sancti vitae praesentis taedio ad aeternam requiem semper anhelant. — Hoc loco recede dicitur vim fla- gelli amove. Quis enim valet Deo recedente quie- scere, cum solus ipse sit requies, et a quo quisque quanto longe fuerit, fit tanto et inquietus? Itaque sic recede ab eo, dicitur, ut intelligas feriendo. Apte enim subjungitur: Donec optata veniat, sicut merce- narii dies ejus. Mercenarius quanto longe est a (??)ine operis, tanto et retributione mercedis.
第六節——求祢暫且離開他，使他得歇息，直到他所盼望的日子來到，如同雇工的日子。4. 眾聖徒因厭倦今生，總是渴慕永恆的安息。在此處「離開」的意思是：撤去鞭打的力量。因為當神離開時，誰能得歇息呢？既然惟有祂是安息，而人離祂越遠，就越發不得安寧。所以說「你這樣離開他」，是要你以擊打之意來領會。因為經上恰當地補充說：直到他所盼望的日子來到，如同雇工的日子。雇工離他工作的完結越遠，也就離工價的酬報越遠。
Verse 6.—Depart a little from him, that he may rest, until his desired day come, as that of the hireling. 4. The saints, through weariness of the present life, ever pant after eternal rest. In this place 'depart' means: remove the force of the scourge. For who is able to rest when God departs, since He alone is rest, and the farther anyone is from Him, the more restless he becomes? Therefore it is said, 'so depart from him,' that you may understand it as by smiting. For aptly it is added: Until his desired day come, as that of the hireling. The hireling, the farther he is from the end of his work, is the farther also from the recompense of his wage.

Ita vir quisque sanctus in hac vita positus, dum longe se esse ab exitu vitae praesentis conspicit, longe se esse ab aeter- nis gaudiis gemit. Quid est ergo dicere: Recede pau- lulum ab eo, ut quiescat, nisi: jam flagella vitae prae- sentis subtrahe, et bona aeternae quietis ostende? Unde etiam de ipsa quiete additur: Donec 394 optata veniat, sicut mercenarii dies ejus. Tunc namque homini optata sicut mercenarii dies venit, quando aeternam requiem pro recompensatione sui laboris acceperit.
照樣，每一位聖潔之人被安置在今生，當他看見自己離今生的結束尚遠時，就哀歎自己離永恆的喜樂尚遠。那麼，說「求祢暫且離開他，使他得歇息」，若非說：如今撤去今生的鞭打，並顯出永恆安息的美善，還是甚麼呢？故此論到那安息本身也補充說：直到他所盼望的日子來到，如同雇工的日子。因為當人領受永恆的安息作為他勞苦的酬報時，所盼望的日子便如同雇工的日子臨到他。
So every holy man, placed in this life, while he beholds himself to be far from the departure of the present life, groans that he is far from eternal joys. What then is it to say: Depart a little from him, that he may rest, but: withdraw now the scourges of the present life, and show forth the goods of eternal rest? Whence also concerning that very rest it is added: Until his desired day come, as that of the hireling. For then does the desired day come to a man as that of the hireling, when he shall have received eternal rest as the recompense of his labor.

Quantum vero ad praesentis vitae speciem spectat, adhuc beatus Job humanum genus multis miseriis repletum quam sit despectum insinuat, quam tumque ipsa insensibilia ipsum praeire videantur nar- rat, cum dicit:

But as far as it pertains to the appearance of the present life, blessed Job still intimates how despised the human race is, filled with many miseries, and relates how even insensible things seem to outstrip it, when he says:
