I bid. —Et manus illius reddent ei dolorem suum. 10. Aeternum hypocritis supplicium quasi quoddam debitum solvetur. —Quid per manus nisi opera de- signantur? Manus itaque illius ei dolorem reddent, quia damnationem justam ex iniqua recipiet opera- tione. B ne autem non dabunt, sed reddent, dicitur, quia perversae ejus actiones aeternum ei supplicium quasi quoddam debitum solvent. Sed priusquam ad aeterna supplicia perveniat, qualem se hic exhibeat plenius adjungat. Sequitur:
同節。——「他的手必將他自己的憂苦歸還與他。」——永遠的刑罰要償還給偽善者，如同某種欠債。——「手」所指的是什麼，豈不是行為嗎？所以他的手必將憂苦歸還與他，因為他必從自己邪惡的作為中領受公義的定罪。而經上說得好，不是「給」而是「歸還」，因為他悖謬的行為，必將永遠的刑罰如同某種欠債償還給他。但在他到達永遠的刑罰之先，讓經文更充分地補述他在此顯出自己是何等人。接著說：
In the same place. — 'And his hands shall render to him his own sorrow.' — Eternal punishment is paid out to hypocrites as a kind of debt. — What is designated by 'hands' but works? His hands therefore shall render to him sorrow, because he shall receive just condemnation from his iniquitous working. And well is it said that they will not 'give' but 'render,' because his perverse actions shall pay out to him eternal punishment as a kind of debt. But before he arrives at the eternal punishments, let him more fully add what manner of man he shows himself to be here. There follows:
