V ers. 10. — Filii ejus atterentur egestate. 9. Exterius multiplicati hypocritae, interius inanes fiunt. —Scriptum est: In malevolam animam non introibit sapientia ( Sap, i, 4 ). Et per Psalmistam dicitur: Divites eguerunt, et esurierunt ( Psal. xxxiii, 11), Si enim de exteriori fame egestas eorum et esu- ries diceretur, profecto divites non essent, qui pane corporis indigerent. Sed quia dum exterius multipli- cantur, interius inanes fiunt, et divites pariter et egentes esse memorantur, quia videlicet pane sa- pientiae satiari minime merentur.
第十節。——「他的兒女必因窮乏而衰殘。」——偽善者外表增多，內裡卻成為空虛。——經上記著說：「智慧必不進入懷惡意的靈魂」（智慧篇一4）。詩人也說：「富足的人也缺乏飢餓」（詩篇三十三11）。因為若他們的缺乏與飢餓是指外在的饑荒，那麼那些缺少身體之糧的人，斷不能算是富足的。但因為他們外表增多之時，內裡卻成為空虛，故被記為既富足又缺乏——就是說，因為他們絲毫不配得以智慧之糧得飽足。
Verse 10. — 'His children shall be worn away by want.' — Hypocrites, multiplied outwardly, become empty inwardly. — It is written: 'Into a malevolent soul wisdom shall not enter' (Wisdom i. 4). And by the Psalmist it is said: 'The rich have been in want, and have suffered hunger' (Psalm xxxiii. 11). For if their want and hunger were spoken of outward famine, surely they would not be rich who lacked the bread of the body. But because, while they are multiplied outwardly, they become empty inwardly, they are recorded to be at once both rich and needy — namely because they in no way deserve to be filled with the bread of wisdom.

Filii itaque hujus hypocritae e atteruntur egestate, quia hi qui in hy(??) pocrisi ex ejus imitatione nascuntur, dum veritatis soliditatem f non tenent, in cordis egestate defi- ciunt.
因此，這偽善者的兒女因窮乏而衰殘，因為那些效法他、在偽善中所生的人，既不持守真理的堅實，便在心靈的貧乏中枯竭。
And so the children of this hypocrite are worn away by want, because those who are born in hypocrisy from imitation of him, while they do not hold to the solidity of truth, fail in the poverty of their heart.
