V ers. 32. — Neque enim viro, qui similis mei est, respondebo, nec qui mecum in judicio ex aequo possit audiri. 59. Justo quam grave sit ignorare unde delinquit. — Dum cum quolibet in judicio ex aequo contendi- mus, et quid contra nos dicatur agnoscimus, et in his quae dicimus audimur, et quo objecta patenter apprehendimus, eo audenter ad proposita responde- mus. Quia ergo invisibilis judex quae facimus videt, quasi audit quae dicimus; sed quia id quod ei displi- cet nequaquam plene cognoscimus, quasi quid ipse dicit ignoramus.
第三十二節——因為我不會回答一個與我相像的人，也沒有一個能與我在審判中平等對辯的。第五十九節：對義人而言，不知自己在何處得罪，是何等沉重。——當我們與任何人在審判中平等對辯時，我們既認出對我們所控告的，我們所說的也被聽見，並且既明白地把握了對方的指控，我們便愈發放膽回答所提出的事。但因那不可見的審判者看見我們的作為，祂彷彿聽見我們所說的；然而因我們絕不能完全曉得甚麼使祂不悅，我們便彷彿不曉得祂自己所說的。
Verse 32. — For I will not answer a man that is like myself, nor one who can be heard together with me in judgment on equal terms. 59. How grievous it is for the just man to be ignorant wherein he offends. — When we contend with anyone in judgment on equal terms, both we recognize what is said against us, and in the things we say we are heard, and inasmuch as we plainly grasp the objections, we the more boldly answer to the matters proposed. But since the invisible Judge sees what we do, He as it were hears what we say; yet since we by no means fully know that which displeases Him, we are as it were ignorant of what He Himself says.

Vir igitur sanctus vestimentorum suorum abominationem considerans, eo amplius ti- met, quo audiri ex aequo in judicio non valet, quia quousque corruptionis suae pondere premitur, hoc in poena sua gravius tolerat, quod et sensum sui reprehensoris ignorat. Ac si aperte dicat: In hoc ex aequo non audior, quia et patent cuncta quae facio, et tamen ipse nescio per quanta reprehendor. Se- quitur:
所以這聖者思量自己衣服的可憎，便愈發懼怕，因他不能在審判中平等地被聽見；因為只要他被自身敗壞的重擔所壓，他在刑罰中便更沉重地擔負這事：連責備他者的心意他都不曉得。彷彿他明白地說：在這事上我不能平等地被聽見，因為我所行的一切既全然顯露，我自己卻不曉得因多少事被責備。接著說：
The holy man therefore, considering the abhorrence of his garments, fears the more, in that he cannot be heard on equal terms in judgment, since so long as he is pressed by the weight of his corruption, he bears this the more grievously in his punishment, that he is ignorant even of the mind of his reprover. As if he plainly said: In this I am not heard on equal terms, since both all that I do lies open, and yet I myself know not for how many things I am reproved. There follows:
