Frustra se innocenties putant, qui pullali dura respondent. — Eo se innocentem credidit, quo pulsatus erupit; 813 nirnirum nesciens quia innocentia non tempore defenditur, sed ratione. Quid enim ejus defensionibus adminiculatur, quod etsi tacenti nulla intulit, recte tamen inchoanti prava respondiL? Postquam vero in verbis elationis I ostenditur? ecce iterum sub requisitionis velamine palliatur, atque infert,, dicens:; IBID. — Quod si quid melius nosti, loquere. Quamvis dum non ait: Quia melius nosti, sed, Si quid melius nosti, toquere, nimis hoc ipsum superbisse est, de melioris scientia dubitasse.
同節——因為你先開口說話，不是我。四、那些對挑釁者作出嚴厲回應的人，枉自以為無辜。——他因受挑釁而發作，便自以為更為無辜；他當然不知，無辜並非藉時機、乃是藉理由而得辯護。因為即使他對緘默之人未加傷害，卻對正當起頭之人惡言相答——這對他的辯護又有何益處？但在他顯露於驕傲的言語之後，看哪，他又藏身於詢問的帷幕之下，並接著說道：同節——你若知道有甚麼更好的，就說吧。雖然他不說「因為你知道更好的」，卻說「你若知道有甚麼更好的，就說吧」，然而單單這一點就已是過分驕傲了：竟然懷疑別人有更好的見識。
Ibid. — For thou hast begun to speak, and not I. 4. Those judge themselves innocent in vain who make harsh replies to one who provokes them. — He deemed himself the more innocent in that, being provoked, he burst forth; not knowing, of course, that innocence is defended not by timing but by reason. For what avails his defenses that, even if he inflicted nothing on one who was silent, yet he answered wrongly to one who began rightly? But after he is shown to be in the words of pride, behold, again he is cloaked under the veil of inquiry, and adds, saying: Ibid. — But if thou knowest anything better, speak. Although in that he does not say, 'Because thou knowest something better,' but 'If thou knowest anything better, speak,' this very thing was to have been too proud: to have doubted of another's better knowledge.

Sed, sicut supra dictum est, quia in actione arrogantium omne quod superducto sermone tegitur, prorumpente ruraum intentione elationis aperitur, citius Eliu innotui. qua mente beatum Jvb loqui postulavit. Yet in this, that he granted blessed Job a place to speak, he showed that he had displayed humility. But, as was said above, because in the conduct of the arrogant everything that is covered by an added discourse is again laid bare when the intention of pride breaks forth, Elihu the more quickly betrayed with what mind he had asked blessed Job to speak.
