V ers. 21.— Nunc venistis, et modo videntes pla- gam meam timetis. 49. Deus etiam in prosperis metuendus. Ac si aperte dicat: Ego tunc Deum timui, cum, fultus prosperis, flagellorum detrimenta non sensi. Vos autem qui ex amore Deum non metuistis, ex sola eum verberis percussione formidatis. Sequitur:

Verse 21.— 'Now ye are come, and, seeing my plague, ye are afraid.' 49. God is to be feared even in prosperity. As if he plainly said: 'I then feared God, when, upheld by prosperity, I felt not the harms of scourges. But you, who out of love have not feared God, dread him only from the striking of the lash.'
