Job prophetias spiritu pollebat. — In ille enim quae secutura erant videbat assistentia, cui nec fu- tura veniunt, nec praeterita discedunt, sed cuncta simul auto ejus oculos assistunt. Et quia ea ipsa quae ventura erant, alia esse vidit in operibus, alia in di- ctis, recte subjungitur, I bid.: — Et vidit oculus meus, et audivit auris mea. Sed utilitatem dicta non habent, si intellectu carent. Unde apte subditur, — I bid.: — Et.intellexi singula. Cum enim aliquid os- tenditur,vel auditur, si intellectus non tribuitur, prophetia minime est. Vidit namque Pharao per somnium quae erant Aegypto ventura ( Genes. ili, 2, seq. );
第十三章。第一節：「看哪，這一切。」三十一、約伯大有預言之靈。——因為他把那將要臨到的事看為現前之事——對他而言，將來的事並不到來，過去的事也不離去，乃是一切同時現前地立在他眼前。並且因為他看出那將要來的事本身，在行為上是一樣，在言語上是另一樣，所以正確地接著說（同上）：「我的眼睛看見了，我的耳朵聽見了。」但言語若沒有悟性，就毫無益處。所以恰當地加上（同上）：「我也逐一領悟了。」因為當有事被顯明或被聽見時，若不賜下悟性，就絕不是預言。法老固然在夢中看見將要臨到埃及的事（創四十一1以下）；
Chapter 13. Verse 1: 'Behold, all these things.' 31. Job was mighty in the spirit of prophecy. — For he saw as present those things which were to follow, he to whom neither do future things come nor past things depart, but all things stand present together before his eyes. And because he saw that those very things which were to come were of one kind in deeds, of another in words, it is rightly subjoined (ibid.): 'And my eye has seen, and my ear has heard.' But words have no usefulness if they lack understanding. Whence it is fitly added (ibid.): 'And I have understood each thing.' For when something is shown or heard, if understanding is not granted, it is by no means prophecy. Pharaoh indeed saw in a dream the things that were to come upon Egypt (Gen. 41:1 ff.);

Aspexit Balthasar rex e articulos manus scribentis in pariete ( Dan. v, 5); sed propheta non fuit, quia intellectum rei quam viderat non ac- cepi. Ut igitur beatus Job prophetiae spiritum se habere testatur, non solum vidisse se et audisse sed etiam intellexisse omnia asserit. De quo intellectu quia non extollitur, subjuncta ejus verba testantur cum ait:
但因他不能領悟自己所看見的，他就不是先知。伯沙撒王看見那在牆上寫字之手的指節（但五5）；他卻不是先知，因為他沒有領受所看見之事的悟性。所以，有福的約伯為要證明自己擁有預言之靈，就聲明他不僅看見、聽見，也領悟了一切。而他並未因這悟性而自高，他接下來的話便為此作證，他說：
but because he was unable to understand what he saw, he was no prophet. King Belshazzar beheld the joints of the hand that wrote upon the wall (Dan. 5:5); but he was no prophet, because he did not receive the understanding of the thing which he had seen. Therefore, that blessed Job may testify that he possesses the spirit of prophecy, he asserts that he not only saw and heard, but also understood all things. And that he is not lifted up on account of this understanding, his subjoined words testify, when he says:
