I bid. — Nunquid propter te derelinquetur terra? 5. Deus extra veram Ecclesiam vere non colitur. — Se enim ubique Deum colere, se totum mundum c existimant occupasse. Quid est ergo dicere: Nun- quid propter te derelinquetur terra, nisi hoc quod saepe fidelibus dicunt, quia si hoc est verum quod vos dicitis, omnis a Deo terra derelicta est, quam jam prae multitudine nos tenemus; d saucia autem universalis Ecclesia praedicat Deum veraciter nisi intra se coli non posse, asserens quod omnes qui extra ipsam sunt minime salvabuntur. At contra hae- retici, qui etiam extra ipsam salvari se posse confi- dunt, in quolibet loco sibi divinum adjutorium adesse profitentur. Unde dicunt:

Outside the true Church God is not truly worshipped. — For they think that they worship God everywhere, that they themselves have occupied the whole world. What then does it mean to say: Shall the earth be forsaken for your sake, except this which they often say to the faithful, namely, that if what you say is true, then the whole earth has been forsaken by God, which we now hold by reason of our multitude; whereas the wounded universal Church preaches that God cannot truly be worshipped except within herself, asserting that all who are outside her will by no means be saved. But on the contrary the heretics, who trust that they can be saved even outside her, profess that divine help is present to them in every place. Whence they say:
