VERS. 2. — Et iratus, indignatusque eat Eliu filius Barachel Buzites, de cognatione Ham. 9. Per Eliu, ejusque patrem et cognationem, signantur superbi veræ fidei tenaces. — Bene haec ipsa vel ejus, vel parentis, vel loci, vel cognationis nomina notam propriæ exprimunt actionis. Eliu quippe interpretatum sonat, Deus meus iste, vel Deus Dominus. Per quem, sicut superius diximus (Num. 7), designatur recta 735 fides arrogantium f intra Ecclesiam positorum. Unde eis et hoc ipsum ejus etiam nomen congruit. Nam quamvis juxta dominica praecepta non vivant, Deum tamen dominum esse recoguoscunt; qua in veritate carnis etiam formam Deitatis.intelligunt, sicut per Prophetam dicitur:
Verse 2. — And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram, was angry and indignant. 9. By Elihu, and his father and kindred, are signified the proud who hold fast to the true faith. — Well do these very names — whether his own, or his parent's, or of the place, or of the kindred — express the mark of his proper action. For Elihu, being interpreted, sounds 'This is my God,' or 'God the Lord.' By whom, as we said above (no. 7), is designated the right faith of the arrogant placed within the Church. Whence this very name of his also befits them. For although they do not live according to the Lord's precepts, they nevertheless recognize that God is Lord; in which truth they understand even the form of the Godhead in the flesh, as it is said through the Prophet:

Scitote quod Dominus ipse est Deus (Psal. IctI, 3). Barachel vero interpretatum dicitur g benedictio Dei, Buzites autem contemptibilis. Quod arroganter praedicantibus bene utrumque concordat, quia in praedicationis facundia benedictionem quidem gratiae divinae percipiunt, sed in elatis suis moribus esse ea'n contemptibilem ostendunt. Ipsa quippe quae acceperunt bona, eo despicabilia f.tciunt, quo nequaquam eis bene uti noverunt. Apte autem etiam de cognatione Ram dicitur. Ram quippe interpretatur excelsus. Excelsus namque est fidelium populus, qui hujus vitae infima et abjecta contemnit. Excelsi sunt qui dicere cum Paulo noverunt: h Nostra conversatio in caelis est (Philip. III, 20).
Know that the Lord Himself is God (Ps. 100:3). But Barachel, being interpreted, is called 'the blessing of God,' and the Buzite 'contemptible.' Both of which agree well with those who preach arrogantly, because in the eloquence of preaching they indeed receive the blessing of divine grace, but in their elated morals they show it to be contemptible. For those very good things which they received, they make despicable, in that they by no means knew how to use them well. But aptly too is he said to be 'of the kindred of Ram.' For Ram is interpreted 'lofty.' For the faithful people is lofty, which contemns the base and abject things of this life. Lofty are they who have known how to say with Paul: Our conversation is in heaven (Phil. 3:20).

Eliu itaque de cognatione Ham dicitur, quia unusquisque prædicator arrogans intra universalem Ecclesiam positus, sanctis populis fidei veritate sociatur, quamvis ab eorum vita elaliunis pravitate disjungatur. Sequitur:
Elihu therefore is said to be of the kindred of Ram, because every arrogant preacher placed within the universal Church is associated with the holy peoples by the truth of the faith, although he is disjoined from their life by the depravity of elation. There follows:
