ℹ️ This corpus has no morphological tagging. Glosses are matched by word form against a dictionary — a match does not prove it is the same word (an inflected form can coincide with another word’s lemma). Verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.

Same place. — Satan answering said: I have gone round the earth, and walked through it. 7. Satan's going about, the proof of his anxiety. — By going round in a circuit the anxiety of toil is wont to be signified. Satan, therefore, in his toil went round the earth, because he scorned to stand quiet at the summit of heaven. And when he implies that he did not fly, but walked through it, he shows by how great a weight of sin he is pressed down into the depths. Walking, therefore, he went round the earth; because falling from that flight of spiritual power, pressed by the heaviness of his own malice, he came forth to the circuit of toil. Hence it is that of his members too it is said through the Psalmist: The wicked walk round about (Ps. xi. [xii.] 9); because while they do not seek the inner things, they are wearied in the labour of outer things.
