58:1

I bid. — Eratque vir ille magnus inter omnes Orien- tales. 8. Quantis divitiis afflueret. — Orientales viros esse praedivites quis ignorat? Magnus ergo inter Orientales exstitit, ac si aperte diceretur: quia et divitibus ditior fuit.

The same place. — And that man was great among all the men of the East. 8. With how great riches he abounded. — Who is ignorant that the men of the East are exceedingly rich? He was great, therefore, among the men of the East, as if it were openly said: that he was richer even than the rich.
