I bid. — Quis enim haec qua nostis ignorat? 46. Ostendendo ea quae scire se gloriatur, a nemine ignorari. — Ac si aperte dicat: Cum cunctis sint nota quae dicitis, de dictorum scientia singulariter cur tumetis? Quia igitur dationem arrogantium ad aequa- litatis communionem revocans, perfecta correptione redarguit, ad doctrinae nunc sententias erumpit, ut amici ejus humiliati, prius discerent veritatis pondera, quam reverenter audirent. Sequitur:
Ibid. — For who is ignorant of these things which you know? 46. By showing that the things he glories to know are ignored by no one. — As if he openly said: Since the things you say are known to all, why do you swell singularly concerning the knowledge of your words? Since, therefore, recalling the giving of the arrogant to the communion of equality, he refuted them with perfect correction, he now breaks forth into the maxims of doctrine, that his humbled friends might first learn the weights of truth, before they would reverently hear. There follows:
