32. Faciliorem vitiis viam aperiunt majores curte. Desideratæ dignitates absque pe cato ministrari non possunt. — Ac si dicat: Pariter gemunt qui eorum gloria ex c delectatione sociantur. Ipsa autem occupatio sæcularium dignitatum tanto facilioribus vitiis premitur, quanto majoribus curis gravatur. Humanus namque animus videre et devitare peccala utinam valeat vel quietcs. Quia ergo vidit desideratas rerum celsitudines ahsque peccatis ministrari non posse, et quia divinæ irae non absconditur quidquid illicitum perpetratur, apte secutus adjunxit:
32. Higher offices open an easier way to vices. Desired dignities cannot be administered without sin.—As if he said: They groan together who are associated with their glory out of delight. But the very occupation of secular dignities is pressed by vices the easier, the more it is weighed down by greater cares. For would that the human mind were able to see and avoid sins even in times of quiet.
