V ers. 4. — Ponam coram eo judicium, et os meum replebo increpationibus. 35. Ex occultorum Dei judiciorum consideratione ad poenitentiam accenduntur electi. — Coram Deo judi- cium ponere est intra secretum mentis per fidet con- templationem ad tremendum examen majestatis illius oculos nostrae considerationis aperire, quid peccator homo mereatur attendere, et occultus nunc et tacitus judex quam terribilis post appareat con- siderare. Ex qua re agitur ut ad cognitionem sui anima subtilius revocetur, et quo occultum judicem suum magis terribilem videt, eo de suis actibus formidolosius angustetur. Anxie trepidat, culpas suas lamentis insequitur, poenitendo increpat, qua- lem fuisse se meminit.
Verse 4. — I will lay my cause before Him, and fill my mouth with rebukes. 35. From considering God's hidden judgments the elect are kindled to penitence. — To lay one's cause before God is, within the secret of the mind, through the contemplation of faith, to open the eyes of our consideration unto the awful examination of His Majesty; to mark what a sinful man deserves, and to consider how terrible that Judge, now hidden and silent, will afterward appear. Hence it comes to pass that the soul is more subtly recalled to knowledge of itself, and the more it sees its hidden Judge to be the more terrible, the more fearfully it is straitened concerning its own deeds. Anxiously it trembles, it pursues its faults with laments, and repenting rebukes what it remembers itself to have been.
第四節。——「我要在祂面前陳明我的案情，用責備充滿我的口。」三十五、選民因思想神隱密的審判而被激動悔改。——在神面前陳明案情，就是在心靈的隱密處，藉信德的默觀，向那可畏的威嚴審判睜開我們省察之眼；察看罪人當受何等報應，並思想那如今隱密緘默的審判者，日後顯現時將是何等可畏。由此，靈魂便更精細地被喚回認識自己，越看見那隱密的審判者可畏，就越為自己的行為戰兢自懼。它焦慮戰慄，用哀哭追討自己的過犯，一面悔改一面責備自己所記得的過往為人。

Unde nunc quoque postquam dictum est: Ponam coram eo judicium, recte sub- jungitur: Os meum replebo increpationibus. Qui enim sibi in conspectu Dei judicium ponit, os suum incre- pa(??)isnibus replet, quia dum subtile examen tre- mendi contra se judicis contemplatur, amarae se poenitentiae invectione persequitur. Saepe autem dum culpas nostras pensare negligimus, quae earum re- prehensio in judicio sequatur ignoramus; dum (??)ero cas poenitendo persequimur, quid nobis de eis judex in suo examine dicere possit invenimus. Unde ad- huc apte subjungitur:
Whence now also, after it was said: I will lay my cause before Him, it is rightly subjoined: I will fill my mouth with rebukes. For he who lays his cause before himself in the sight of God fills his mouth with rebukes, because while he contemplates the subtle examination of the awful Judge against himself, he pursues himself with the reproach of bitter penitence. But often, while we neglect to weigh our faults, we know not what reproof of them may follow in the judgment; whereas while we pursue them by repenting, we discover what the Judge may be able to say to us concerning them in His examination. Whence it is aptly further subjoined:
因此如今在說了「我要在祂面前陳明我的案情」之後，也恰當地接著說：「我要用責備充滿我的口。」因為凡在神面前於自己心中陳明案情的人，便用責備充滿自己的口，因他在默觀那可畏審判者對自己所行精細的查究時，便以痛苦悔改的斥責追究自己。然而我們往往因疏忽衡量自己的過犯，就不知在審判中將有何等的責備臨到；反之，當我們以悔改追究這些過犯時，就尋見審判者在祂的查究中，可能對我們所說的話。因此又恰當地接著說：
