I bid. — Et adhuc retinens innocentiam suam. 2. Job innocentiam gloriosius servavit in verbere. — Ac si aperte dicat: Tu quidem exercuisti malitiam, sed ille innocentiam non amisit; et unde te aestima sti provectum ejus imminuere, inde compulsus es ejus provectui deservire, quia mentis innocentiam, quam gloriose tenuit in tranquillitate, gloriosius servavit in verbere. Sequitur:
Ibid. — And still he holdeth fast his innocence. 2. Job more gloriously preserved his innocence under the scourge. — As if He plainly said: Thou indeed hast exercised thy malice, but he hath not lost his innocence; and whence thou didst think to lessen his advancement, thence thou hast been compelled to serve his advancement, because the innocence of mind which he gloriously held in tranquility, he hath more gloriously preserved under the scourge.
