V ers. 3. — Et dignum ducis super hujuscemodi aperire oculos (??)es, et adducere eum tecum in judi- cium ? 69. Duo extrema nomo et creator, pulvis et Deus. — Consideravit quippe superius et omnipotentis Dei potentiam, et infirmitatem suam; deduxit ante ocu- los se et Deum, pensavit quis cum quo ad judicium veniat. Vidit hinc hominem, inde conditorem, id est pulverem, et Deum; et recte ait: Et dignum ducis super hujuscemodi aperire oculos tuos? Omnipotenti Deo oculos aperire 392 b est judicia exercere, quem feriat videre. Nam quasi clausis oculis non vult aspi- cere quem non vult ferire. Unde mox de ipso quoque judicio adjungitur: Et adducere eum tecum in judi- cium?
Verse 3.—And dost Thou think it worthy to open Thine eyes upon such a one, and to bring him with Thee into judgment? 69. The two extremes: man and Creator, dust and God. For he considered above both the power of Almighty God and his own infirmity; he set before his eyes himself and God, and weighed who it is that comes with whom to judgment. He saw on the one side man, on the other the Creator, that is, dust and God; and he rightly said: And dost Thou think it worthy to open Thine eyes upon such a one? For Almighty God to open His eyes is to exercise His judgments, to see whom He may strike. For as with closed eyes He is unwilling to look upon him whom He is unwilling to strike. Whence presently concerning that very judgment it is added: And to bring him with Thee into judgment?
第三節——祢豈以為值得向這樣的人睜開祢的眼，並將他帶到祢面前受審判麼？69. 兩個極端：人與造物主，塵土與神。因為他在上文既思想了全能神的權能，又思想了自己的軟弱；他將自己與神並列於眼前，衡量那將要一同受審者是誰與誰。他在一邊看見人，在另一邊看見造物主，就是塵土與神；便恰當地說：祢豈以為值得向這樣的人睜開祢的眼麼？對全能的神而言，睜開眼就是施行審判，觀看祂所要擊打的。因為祂彷彿閉著眼，不願觀看祂所不願擊打的。故此隨即論到那審判本身補充說：並將他帶到祢面前受審判麼？

Sed quia contemplatus est ad judicium venien- tem Deum, rursum considerat infirmitatem suam. Videt quia mundus per semetipsum esse non possit, qui ut esse possit, de immunditia processit, atque subjungit:
But because he contemplated God coming to judgment, he again considers his own infirmity. He sees that he cannot exist of himself as clean, who in order that he might exist proceeded from uncleanness, and he adds:
但因他默想神來施行審判，就再度思想自己的軟弱。他看見自己不能靠自身而潔淨存在，因為他為要得以存在，乃是從不潔中而出，於是他補充說：
